#soulfood #roshashana what nourishes you ?
🍎🍯Shana Tova! May it be a year that is nourishing on all levels and abundant with sweet blessings, mindful & kindful living, and compassionate connections 🙏Four Types of Hunger (Inspired & Quoted from My Body Is A Temple by Christina Sell ) 🍎Physical hunger is the hunger the body feels when it needs food or fuel. Just as a car needs gas to run, so too the body needs fuel in the form of food. 🥕Mouth hunger is simply the pleasure (Kama) we feel in our mouths, through our taste buds, that makes us want to keep eating even when our physical hunger is satisfied. **It is also what helps us to experience joy in eating. To love what we eat as well as to eat what we love. Enjoyment is seen as an important aspect of Ayurveda. According to this approach, the mood with which we eat is as vital, if not more so, as what we eat.** 🍯Emotional hunger drives us to eat rather than feel. We take a second helping because it tastes so good, not because we are physically hungry. Many times we eat more than our bodies require because there is some kind of emotional discomfort that arises when we are no longer in the act of eating. Perhaps we feel awkward sitting at the table, finished with our meal, while other people continue to eat. That feeling of awkwardness goes away if we keep eating, so we continue eating instead of staying with our discomfort. Emotional hunger must be fed by honestly acknowledging our emotions and by working with them and/or expressing them in healthy ways. 🐟Spiritual hunger is the hunger we feel for a life of dignity, joy and true purpose. Spiritual hunger is the hunger for our highest ideals to manifest in our lives. 🤔Impression food Just as we take in food we also take in food we also take in impressions of the world. And just as healthy food nourishes the body and unhealthy food contributes to the body’s breakdown, the diet of psychic impressions that we consume nourishes our inner life or contributes to its malfunctioning.
